Bell RS-1 Visor Review

Last updated on January 2, 2018 By Craig Leave a Comment

Perhaps you own a Bell RS-1 Helmet, but you’ve grown tired of the clear visor or face shield that came with it. For those of you that are not aware, you have a number of options to upgrade your Bell RS-1 visor.

Shortly after I purchased my Bell RS-1 motorcycle helmet, I wanted to upgrade the visor to something that provided a bit more protection from the sun. So with that said, here’s my Bell RS-1 visor review based upon my experiences with the face shield as provided by Bell helmets.

Bell RS-1 Helmet Quick Release

Bell has some capabilities built into their helmet line-up that makes swapping out the visor a piece of cake.

This quick release mechanism allows you to easily remove the existing visor on the RS-1, and replace it with another visor made by Bell.

It takes me about a minute to change the visor on my Bell RS-1, and that includes fetching the helmet off the shelf, finding the visor I want to add, making the change, and putting the old visor away. No tools required.

Bell RS-1 Visor Review

So we already talked about the ease in switching out visors on the RS-1, what about the quality?

No issues with the quality of the visor on the RS-1 helmet. I take great care in protecting the visor when it’s not mounted on the RS-1, and I’ve found it does not scratch easily. In fact, I’ve owned this visor for the last 2.5 years, and I have yet to scratch this face shield.

What about fogging? No real issues here either. Sure, I’ll get some fogging on those cool mornings, but the nice thing with the quick release mechanism is that that it has a feature to crack the visor with the flip of a switch. Just enough to remove any fogging in a matter of seconds.

Would I purchase another Bell RS-1 visor for my helmet? Without a doubt. I’ve been so impressed with this helmet and the various visor options, I would purchase again without any reservations.

Bell RS-1 Visor Options

Ok, so on with it already. What kind of options are available to upgrade the Bell RS-1 visor?

Bell has a visor for the RS-1 to meet pretty much any need. I initially purchased the light-smoke visor, and find that it’s the perfect shield for both sunny and cloudy day’s alike. In fact, I barely have a need to change back to the clear shield, unless I find myself riding at night.

Let’s take a look at some other options, and of course you can purchase directly from here if you like what you see (you’ll be redirected to Amazon).
